The sun is shining, the weather is getting warmer…that can only mean one thing: SUMMER IS NEAR!
If you don’t know by now, I’m located in the upper East Coast of the USA, in the gorgeous state of Maine! Known for it’s never ending coastlines and the rare combination of beaches and never ending wilderness, Maine is rightfully referred to as “vacationland.”
Once the warmer weather hits in Maine, you can bet on one thing: Tourists haha. Our quiet little communities always turn into summer get aways for those not fortunate to live in Maine. (I can’t really blame them though…I would want to be on the Maine coast if I didn’t live here! It’s gorgeous!)
While I’m not a fan of the traffic and jam packed streets (let alone trying to find a place to eat dinner on a Friday night!) I can’t help but love summer and the whole ‘tourist season’ thing. There’s something so magical and energetic about the state coming alive in the summer. And you know what my favorite part of tourist season is?: The people watching.
People watching is one of my favorite activities. I can park my butt on a bench or sit in a coffee shop and just people watch for hours. What am I looking at? People’s clothes, of course!
The fashion of the summer tourists are truly a thing of beauty! Maine draws all kinds of people during the summer months, but more often than not, I find that it draws city dwellers from Boston, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York City and even our friends from the North in Canada – mainly, French Canadians up in Montreal! What do these city folk have in common?: Their love for fashion and expensive designers. Now, as a late 20 something, I can’t afford the clothes that some of these women wear…but that doesn’t stop me from drooling over them! Sometimes, I even take pictures of the men and women who are the most impeccably dressed. A lot of them look like they’ve stepped right out of the latest issue of Vogue. It’s unreal!
If there’s an outfit I particularly like, I’ll try and find something similar online. …Which is what this whole blog post is about today, folks.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite early summer looks for all of you! I’ve tried to touch all of the bases – from both the higher end (RE: expensive) to clothing we can all afford!
